Greenment, a startup developing revolutionary green concrete, recently participated in the high-profile Web Summit 2023 as an Impact Startup. Held in Lisbon from November 13-16, Web Summit is one of the largest tech conferences globally, drawing over 70,000 attendees.

For Greenment, Web Summit provided an opportunity to demonstrate their innovative sustainable building material on one of the tech world’s biggest stages. On November 16th, Greenment exhibited its solution to investors, potential partners, media, and other attendees interested in cutting-edge green technologies.

Known as the “most meaningful tech conference on the planet”, Web Summit prioritizes startups tackling global challenges like climate change. Greenment was selected as an Impact Startup exhibitor for their concrete alternative that reduces the construction industry’s massive carbon emissions.

With the manufacturing of traditional concrete accounting for 7% of CO2 emissions worldwide, Greenment delivers strong environmental benefits. Their novel concrete solution absorbs more carbon than is released during production, transforming conventional concrete from a carbon emitter to a carbon sink.

Greenment co-founder Omid Asgari explained why showcasing at Web Summit aligned powerfully with their mission: “We aim to replace mainstream concrete with a carbon-negative material that’s superior in sustainability and performance. The Web Summit audience understands the urgent need for technologies like ours to build a zero-carbon future.”

Throughout the day at their booth, the Greenment team held engaging discussions with attendees about the environmental promise of their technology. They welcomed visitors to interact directly with concrete samples to experience attributes like strength and air-purifying properties firsthand.

In addition, Greenment participated in two media interviews with leading tech publications. This provided ideal opportunities to share details on their innovative material and how it will disrupt the massive global concrete industry.

According to Asgari, Web Summit 2022 generated tremendous excitement around Greenment’s solution: “We received extremely positive feedback about how our sustainable concrete technology can reduce construction impacts. Many investors and partners also expressed strong interest in collaborating with Greenment to accelerate adoption.”

Greenment also made vital connections with other startups at the Web Summit focused on green building innovations. Conversations helped identify partnership opportunities to further drive decarbonization and circularity in the construction sector.

This year’s Web Summit marked the second time Greenment exhibited its breakthrough solution at the premier tech event. The startup joined as an Alpha Startup in 2021, garnering crucial feedback to incorporate into product development.

Returning as an Impact Startup demonstrated the significant progress Greenment made over the past year. Being selected again to showcase reflected a strong belief in the importance of Greenment’s planet-saving mission.

Overall, Web Summit 2022 provided an unmatched opportunity for Greenment to debut its sustainable concrete on the global tech stage. The event enabled invaluable networking with investors, partners, media, and sustainability-focused attendees vital for scaling the solution worldwide.

According to Asgari, Web Summit generated tremendous momentum for the deployment of Greenment concrete globally: “The excitement we encountered shows our product is poised for liftoff. We look forward to exhibiting again next year, when we plan to have full-scale manufacturing underway transforming construction worldwide.”

With Greenment’s carbon-negative concrete solution, the building sector can begin reducing its massive emissions footprint. Greenment offers the concrete alternative needed to construct climate-forward infrastructure and buildings across the planet.
