Greenment, a startup developing revolutionary green concrete, recently presented its solution on the main stage at Planetiers World Gathering 2023. This premier event brought together businesses, thought leaders and change-makers to discuss and experience next-generation sustainability practices.

Planetiers World Gathering is an annual event organized by Planetiers, a global movement inspiring organizations and individuals to help shape a sustainable future. This year’s gathering in October focused on topics like sustainable investments, regenerative agriculture, diversity in sustainability, cities of the future, and more.

With over 5,000 attendees from around the globe, the World Gathering offered an impactful platform for Greenment to showcase their innovative sustainable building material. Co-founder and CEO Omid Asgari pitched Greenment in a panel discussion on technologies that can drive change.

“It was an honor to present Greenment to such an engaged community of sustainability leaders,” said Asgari. “The concrete industry is ripe for disruption and sorely needs solutions like ours to reduce its massive carbon footprint. The reception we received at Planetiers World Gathering demonstrated strong interest in rapidly scaling next-gen sustainable materials.”

Greenment’s novel concrete solution aims to transform the $600 billion global concrete market with a carbon-negative and cost-competitive alternative to traditional concrete. With the manufacturing of conventional concrete accounting for 7% of carbon emissions worldwide, Greenment delivers strong environmental benefits.

By optimizing mixtures of industrial waste resources like slag, fly ash, and tailings, Greenment has developed a green concrete that absorbs more carbon dioxide than is released during production. Their innovative material also purifies air by absorbing harmful particulates.

In his Planetiers World Gathering pitch, Omid emphasized that Greenment concrete matches or exceeds performance specs for strength, longevity, and thermal insulation compared to conventional concrete. It also eliminates the energy-intensive limestone calcination process through its novel chemically-activated binding system.

Unlike traditional concrete, Greenment’s products sequester carbon over their lifetime rather than emitting it. This enables buildings and infrastructure to have a positive climate impact. The solution also curtails habitat destruction and pollution caused by sand mining for concrete.

Asgari called upon investors and partners to support rapid scaling of Greenment across global construction markets. He highlighted how replacing just 5% of conventional concrete with Greenment could reduce CO2 emissions by 100 million tons per year.

The Planetiers World Gathering provided an engaged audience eager for climate-forward technologies like Greenment sustainable concrete. Attendees met with the Greenment team throughout the event to learn more about the solution and its planet-saving potential.

“Our presentation generated tremendous excitement and interest in collaborating to drive adoption of Greenment concrete at scale,” explained Asgari. “The connections made here will be invaluable as we work to finalize our product formulations, ramp up manufacturing, and implement flagship projects showcasing the benefits.”

Planetiers World Gathering also offered Greenment insights into accelerating sustainability solutions globally. Workshops and talks inspired new perspectives on how Greenment can maximize its positive impact. And the gathering facilitated crucial networking with like-minded partners critical for deployment.

“Events like Planetiers World Gathering align perfectly with our mission of enabling sustainable and affordable construction globally,” noted Asgari. “We look forward to participating again as we progress toward replacing mainstream concrete with a carbon-negative alternative that’s better for people and the planet.”

Greenment continues to optimize its breakthrough green concrete technology that absorbed significant interest at Planetiers World Gathering 2023. With the worldwide construction sector needing dramatic decarbonization, Greenment’s solution comes at a crucial time to drive change.
